Every photographer remembers the first time someone decides to buy one of their images. For me, that moment came with an underwater photograph that carried all the hours of practice, failed attempts, and quiet dives spent learning how to see the reef differently. When I sold my first underwater photo, it felt like a confirmation that these hidden moments beneath the surface could touch people on land as well.
I have had the chance to sell two of my underwater photographs and another one is now displayed in a physiotherapy practice in Gustavia, on the island of St Barthélemy, at the office of Eugénie Dupriez. Seeing my images on the walls of a healing space is very special to me. While patients come to recover their strength, they are also surrounded by scenes of the ocean that has given me so much energy, peace, and inspiration.
That first exhibition also changed how I think about my work. It encouraged me to treat each image as part of a larger story about the sea, its creatures, and the delicate balance of the reef. It also strengthened my decision to support coral restoration through my photography, turning every print and commission into a small step toward protecting the world that appears in my photos.
I still feel a mix of humility and joy when I walk into that practice and see my pictures on the wall. It is a reminder that sharing our passions can create unexpected connections between people, places, and the natural world that quietly supports us all.
